Managing the challenges

 

Business mergers often fail to deliver the anticipated improvement in shareholder return. This may be due to shortcomings in the assessment of valuation or risk, a changing economic landscape or failure to manage integration properly. 

 

The people aspect of any deal is always critical. During a mergers, employee engagement and retention can be a challenge, especially if employee fear of redundancy is prevalent.

 

When a business is acquired a business transformation needs to be initiates early in the process.  Management need to stay focused on communication and strong leadership to deliver the required economic benefits and cultural integration.
